Hours of Operation – The Mescal-J6 Fire District administration office is open to the public: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm BY APPOINTMENT ONLY

Meetings Open to the Public- Meetings of the Mescal-J6 Fire District Governing Board are currently open to the public! 

Conference Room Open – The District conference room is once again open to the public and available for use by individuals or groups. Please contact the Administrative Office for scheduling.

Free Notary Service – We offer our residents FREE notary service! By appointment only, call 520-586-4690.

On Friday, May 16, 2025, the Cochise County Emergency Management Department will be conducting a test of the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system.

This test will send a live WEA message to smartphones across the county. The message will read:

"TEST: Cochise County Wireless Emergency Alert. No action required. This is a test of the emergency alert system."

Did anyone get an alert at Noon?

Chiefly speaking, from the desk of Fire Chief Ed Nied:

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: The Mescal-J6 Fire District, in accordance with Arizona Revised Statute 49-501. A. 2. will be implementing a burn ban within the boundaries of the District from now through September 30, 2025.

The burn ban includes outdoor fires for weed abatement.

Excluded in the burn ban:
Warming fires no larger than 2 feet in diameter with a flame height not to exceed two feet contained within an isolated burn pit or container.

Charcoal or gas fueled cooking fires contained to an appropriate barbequing or burning device.

However, each of these recreational activities shall not occur on Red Flag Days.

The person/property owner is responsible for containing ignited fires to the designated burning device. They should also have a water hose and a tool such as a shovel to control any unexpected fire growth.

Under Arizona state law, an individual who starts a fire may be held accountable for all suppression costs and/or potentially face criminal fines should the fire escape and spread to other properties.

For Federal and Arizona State Trust Lands - Stage 2 Fire Restrictions effective 05/12/2025 until rescinded by the respective agencies.

🚫No campfires
🚫No smoking outside a vehicle
🚫No target shooting
🚫No fireworks
