An investigation is underway after a fiery crash in Benson around 11:00pm Thursday night. Benson, Mescal, Fry Fire and multiple ambulances responded to the scene in the median on Highway 90 near Ranch House Rd, about three miles north of Kartchner Caverns.
A vehicle traveling southbound struck another vehicle causing a roll over and both caught on fire after the impact.
The striking vehicle driver was transported to a local hospital and is under investigation for possible DWI.
Two victims in the vehicle that was hit had four occupants that were transported, two by helicopter to Tucson and two by ambulance to a local hospital.
The victims suffered non-life threatening injuries and are all stable at this time.
Both directions of the highway were closed for an extended period of time while emergency services worked to extinguish the fire and for the helicopters to land at the scene.
Both southbound lanes are open and one northbound lane is open.

Hello everyone,
We will now be using ZOOM to broadcast our Mescal-J6 Fire District Board meetings, held the last Wednesday of each month 6:30 PM.
Please go to our website: mescalj6fd.com
You will see the static link (It will be the same each month) in the middle of the front page. It is also located as you scroll down on the left. We will have dedicated individual(s) at each meeting to assist anyone with technical issues to the extent possible. It took quite a few folks to make this happen and I want to thank them here: Mr. Wade Temple; Mr. Mike Nervik, Mrs. Debi Wise, Ms. Jasmine Wise, and Ms. Tamara Fultz.
We've tested it out and feel confident it will allow more of our residents and supporters see the good work being done!
